For dance performance Seven Years by dance collective Teddy Shouldn’t Smoke we have designed and created the dance costume. We started by designing with the concept of the piece in mind and after this we made the costume. The costume consists of different pieces and layers.
About Seven Years
Teddy Shouldn’t Smoke explores the many sides of the female body and her sexuality; vulnerable, powerful and anxious. What do you want to be? On the soaring and intoxicating rhythms of live electric music by Glitterkots and The Nasmaak, the dancer is fighting for herself and the audience. Seven Years is based on the psychoanalytic principles of Carl Gustav Jung and specifically on the archetype the virgin / whore. This expresses the disturbed balance between two sexual extremes of the female psyche.
